CRANKSHAFT AND CONNECTING RODS

CRANKSHAFT REMOVAL

1. Remove:
S Main journal bearings 1
NOTE:
Remove the main journal bearings by the plane
bearing installer/remover 2
shaft bearing driver 3 .
Plane bearing installer/remover:
90890-04074
Middle driven shaft bearing driver:
90890-04058
2. Remove:
S Connecting rod caps 1
S Connecting rod 2
S Plain bearings
NOTE:
Identify the position of each bearing very care-
fully so that it can be reinstalled in its original
place.

CRANKSHAFT INSPECTION

1. Thoroughly wash the crankcase halves in
mild solvent.
2. Thoroughly clean all the gasket mating sur-
faces and crankcase mating surfaces.
3. Inspect:
S Crankcase
Cracks/damage ! Replace.
S Oil delivery passages
Blockage ! Blow out the passages with
compressed air.
4. Measure:
S Runout (crankshaft)
Out of specification ! Replace.
Runout limit:
0.02 mm
