TRANSMISSION

SHIFT FORK INSPECTION

1. Inspect:
S Shift fork cam follower 1
S Shift fork pawl 2
Scoring/bends/wear/damage
place.
2. Inspect:
S Guide bar
Roll the guide bar on a flat surface.
Bends ! Replace.
Do not attempt to straighten a bent guide
bar.
3. Check:
S Shift fork movement
(on the guide bar)
Unsmooth operation ! Replace the shift
fork and the guide bar.

SHIFT CAM INSPECTION

1. Inspect:
S Shift cam grooves
Scratches/wear/damage ! Replace.
S Shift cam segment 1
Wear/damage ! Replace.
S Shift cam bearing 2
Pitting/damage ! Replace.

TRANSMISSION INSPECTION

1. Measure:
S Axle runout
Use a centering device and a dial gauge.
Out of specification ! Replace the bent
axle.
Runout limit (main and drive
axle):
0.06 mm
