CYLINDERS AND PISTONS
NOTE:
Measure the cylinder bore "C" horizontally and
laterally.
Cylinder
bore C:
D Find the average of the measurements.
D If out of specification, rebore or replace the
cylinder and replace the piston and piston
rings as a set.
2nd step:
D Measure the piston skirt diameter "P" with a
micrometer.
b 6 mm from the piston bottom edge.
Standard
D If out of specification, replace the piston and
the piston rings as a set.
3rd step:
D Use the following formula to calculate the pis-
ton-to-cylinder clearance:
Piston-to-cylinder clearance =
Cylinder bore "C" –
Piston skirt diameter "P"
D If out of specification, rebore or replace the
cylinder and replace the piston and the piston
rings as a set.
