This function is particularly useful when combined with the Viewpoint function described in
Section 8.2.1.

8.1.8 Intersecting Planes

The edges produced by intersecting planes can be used to create accurate, simple diagrams of
rooms. (This is discussed further in section 8.1.10 on the Wall Intersection Wizard.)
To find the intersection line of two planes, select the two planes in the scene tree (Ctrl to make a
second selection) or in the window (Ctrl-Shift to make multiple selections in the window) and
then pick Intersect Planes from the Draw & Measure menu, or the corresponding button ( )
from the toolbar. A measure line will be created at the intersection of the planes and extending
to the boundary of the model. You can edit the annotation as with other measure lines. You can
also move the endpoints along the line as described in section 8.1.3.

8.1.9 Intersecting Lines and Planes

You can find the point that is the intersection of a line and a plane by 'trimming' the endpoint of
the line to the plane. This is often used with lines produced by intersecting planes to find the
length or height of a wall (described in section8.1.11). To trim a line to a plane, select the line
and the plane in the scene tree (Ctrl to make the second selection) or in the window (Ctrl-Shift
to make the second selection) and pick Trim Line to Plane from the Draw & Measure menu, or
the corresponding button ( ) from the toolbar. This will move the closest endpoint of the line,
along the line to the selected plane. You can also trim multiple lines at once, and to one or two
planes at the same time.
You also can trim a line to two planes simultaneously. For example, you might want to trim a
vertical line in a room to both the plane of the floor and the plane of the ceiling. To do this,
select both planes and the line in the scene tree. Then select Trim Line to Plane.

8.1.10 Wall Intersection Wizard

The Wall Intersection Wizard, found in the Draw & Measure menu and in the toolbar ( )
produces measure lines along the vertical edges of most rooms by automating the plane
intersection function. The user identifies planes for the walls, floor and ceiling, and the wizard
produces the edges of the room. It is typically used with the Corner Line wizard described in the
following section which trims the lines and produces the horizontal edges.
Begin by creating planes for the walls and ceilings in a room as described in section 8.1.6, and it
is helpful to name each plane sensibly, e.g. northwall or leftwall. You can try this out on the
sample data. Note that this room has two different ceiling planes which makes it a little tricky –

Note: Sometimes this will not move the endpoint you wanted to move – if the
other endpoint is closer to the plane. If this happens, select undo. Then move the
endpoint you want, manually, along the line of the plane so that it is closer than
the other endpoint. This is done with the arrow button and Ctrl-Alt.
