4 Basic Scanning Operation

This section describes scanning with the DeltaSphere-3000 scanner. It is important to read the
Operating Guidelines below before operating the system.

4.1 Operating Guidelines

Use protective eyewear whenever there is a risk of being exposed to the output
beam of the DeltaSphere-3000 or DeltaSphere-3000IR.
designed to block laser radiation of the wavelength used by the sensor (670nm or
780nm). In particular, care must be taken to avoid eye contact with the laser from
within 2 meters.
Do not point the sensor at any person, particularly a person's eyes or face.
radiation can damage the eyes without sensation or warning.
The DeltaSphere-3000IR with the Infrared laser has a red light that indicates
when the laser is on. The laser is invisible to the naked eye. The red light on
indicates that safety precautions must be taken.
Do not attempt to disassemble the DeltaSphere-3000 or DeltaSphere-3000IR.
There are no user serviceable parts. Please contact 3rdTech support or your reseller
for any technical difficulties.
Do not operate the scanner where the air temperature is more than 45ºC (113ºF).
Always turn the system on for at least 10 minutes before scanning.
Do not point the scanner at the sun or at other intense light or heat sources. The
DeltaSphere's sensor will operate when pointed at sunlit areas, although sensitivity is
reduced.
Avoid excessive vibration and shocks. The DeltaSphere contains securely mounted
but precisely aligned optical components.
Do not scratch the face of the rotating mirror, particularly in the central area.
The mirror is made of polished aluminum and should be treated very carefully.
Contact 3rdTech for information about cleaning the mirror.

4.2 The SceneVision Scan Tab

SceneVision controls the DeltaSphere-3000 scanner, receives the stream of scanned data,
displays the data, and writes it to a file. Installing SceneVision is described in Section 2.3. The
PC running this program must be networked to the DeltaSphere over a TCP/IP network – either
directly with a crossover cable or through a local network.
