Often after Auto Acquire you will want to change the position of the camera (from Hi to Low or
vice versa), and repeat. The only change necessary in the parameters would be changing the Hi,
Mid, Low setting in the popup window. You might also need to adjust the exposure settings for
different lighting.

6.2.3 Manual Acquire

In addition to the images associated with a scan, it is often desirable to take close up photos, or
other individual photos. Manual Acquire provides this function. The camera can be hand-held,
on a tripod without the DeltaSphere scanner, or mounted on the DeltaSphere. The camera must
still be connected to the PC. The DeltaSphere need not be connected.
Once the Manual Acquire tab is selected, as shown in Figure 32, the user is prompted for a file
root name as in Auto Acquire. The default is one of the scan names with '_man' appended and

SceneVision will automatically append numbers (and additional information
described next) to this root name.
Position and Name – Select Hi, Mid or Low corresponding to the camera mount
position – or select Other and choose your own name. This will be appended to the
root name selected above.
Bracket – When the Bracket option is selected, SceneVision will take 3 photos at
each camera position. One will be at the settings specified, one at a slower shutter
speed and one at a higher shutter speed. The number specifies the number of
'exposure values' (EV) above and below the base setting. This is a common
photography technique to ensure getting images with satisfactory exposure settings.
It is particularly helpful in working with the varying light conditions encountered as
the DeltaSphere rotates. SceneVision appends dk and lt to the name to indicate the
darker and lighter exposure settings.
Note: Though bracketing takes some additional time, we
strongly recommend using it when the intent is to create a 3D
color model. It makes it much easier to produce a model with
uniform color.
Start – Clicking on Start will begin the image acquisition. The DeltaSphere will
rotate to all the necessary positions and take the appropriate number of images at
each position. These images will be stored in the 'images' folder of the scan
selected.
