Risk of machine damage

Improper handling of the coffee machine can lead to damage or contamination.
It is imperative that the following points be complied with:
Install a lime-scale filter for water with a carbonate hardness of more than 5°dKH, as oth-
erwise the coffee machine can be damaged due to calcification.
For insurance reasons, once you have closed up for the day, always ensure that the stop
valve of the water supply (coffee machine with mains water supply) is closed and that the
electrical main switch is switched off or the mains plug is unplugged.
All the relevant low voltage guidelines and/or the country-specific or local safety rules and
regulations must be observed.
Do not operate the machine if the water supply is blocked. Otherwise, the boilers will not
be refilled and the pump will run dry.
To prevent water damage in the event of hose breakage, Schaerer AG advises routing the
water supply connection via a water stop valve (at the installation site).
Following extended downtimes (e.g. company holidays), the coffee machine must be
cleaned before being operated again.
Protect the coffee machine from the elements (frost, humidity, etc.).
Faults may only be remedied by a qualified service technician.
Only use Schaerer AG genuine spare parts.
Report any externally visible damage or leaks to your service partner without delay and
have any faulty parts replaced and/or repaired.
Never spray the appliance with water or clean it with a steam cleaner.
Clean the brewing unit twice a day when using caramelised coffee (flavoured coffee).
Fill the bean hopper with coffee beans only, the powder container with coffee machine
powder only and the inlet for ground coffee with ground coffee only (or cleaning tablets dur-
ing cleaning operations).
Never use freeze-dried coffee as it clogs the brewing unit.
If the coffee machine and/or accessories are transported at temperatures below 10°C, the
coffee machine and/or accessories must be stored at room temperature for three hours be-
fore the coffee machine and/or accessories are connected to the mains power supply and
switched on. Failure to observe this notice can result in a risk of short-circuit or damage to
electrical components due to condensation.
Always use the new hose set (drinking / waste water hose) provided with the machine.
Never use old hose sets.

The carbonate hardness must not exceed 5 – 6 °dKH(German carbonate hardness) or 8.9
– 10.7 °fKH(French carbonate hardness).
The total hardness must always be greater than the carbonate hardness.
The minimum carbonate hardness is 5 °dKHor 8.9 °fKH.
The maximum chlorine content is 100 mg per litre.
The pH value is between 6.5 and 7 (pH neutral).
Machines with drinking water tank (internal and external):
