3.1 Scanning Barcodes

Follow the procedure below to scan barcodes.
1.
Turn the BHT power ON.
2.
Press the trigger switch.
The BHT emits a guide marker (laser light)
and illumination LED.
The trigger switch is assigned to magic
 Point 
keys M3 and M4 when shipped from the
factory.
3.
Hold the BHT close to the barcode to align the guide
marker.
When the BHT has read the barcode successfully, the
indicator LED will illuminate in blue.
The barcode scanning method may differ
 Point 
depending on the application. Perform
scanning
instructions provided in the application
User's Manual.
If required, clean dirty labels before scanning.
 Note 
It may not be possible to perform scanning in direct sunlight.
If the barcode is on a curved surface, perform scanning in the center of the illumination LED
emission range.
If the barcode reading window is pulled away from the barcode, the scannable barcode range will
become narrower than that of the illumination LED emission.
The guide marker display range is only a guideline. The guide marker moves to the right of the
scannable range as the barcode reading window nears the barcode, and therefore scanning
should be performed so that the barcode comes to the left side of the guide marker.
The light intensity of the illumination LED will vary depending upon the scanning conditions and
variation of its elements.
