5. SCANNING BAR CODES

Operating Procedure
(1) Turn on the PC. (Wait until the system is set up.)
(2) Run an application program (e.g., Microsoft® Excel) to be used
for barcode data entry.
(3) Bring the reading window to a bar code to be scanned and align
the center mark with the center of the bar code.
(4) Press the trigger switch (except in continuous reading mode).
When the scanner has read the bar code successfully, it beeps and
illuminates the LED indicator in green. The scanned data will
display on the PC screen.
Scanning Notes
- Make bar code labels as flat as possible.
- Avoid using the scanner in direct sunlight or extremely bright places.
The scanner might fail to read correctly.
- The scanner can read bar codes turned upside down.
- The scanner may fail to read bar codes covered with plastic films or
enclosed in plastic bags. Take out those bar code labels.
- To read the same bar code more than one time in succession in
continuous reading mode, pull the reading window away from the
scanned code for at least one second, make sure that the LED
indicator goes off, and then scan the code again.
