9.3. How to replace the battery

Never short-circuit the + and – pins. Never disassemble, modify, destroy, throw into fire, heat, use with
non-specified applications and use after the expiry date.
Above acts may cause leakage of fluid, generation of heat, fire, explosion, destruction, or injury by heat.
The battery contains dilute sulfuric acid. When the leaked liquid of the battery had a direct contact with your
clothes or skin, wash off with clean water. When the liquid infringes into your eye, wash with clean water
immediately then go to a doctor.
Used batteries are to be recycled. Regarding the replacement and recycle, contact the Sales Department, the
nearest branch company, branch office, sales office, or any agent of Japan Radio Co., Ltd. and ask them the
replacement and recycle.
When to replace the battery is written in the label on the front panel of the battery. Replace the battery
before its life expires. The procedures to replace it are:
1) Turn off the Power Supply unit of the Recording Control Unit.
2) Turn off the circuit breaker of the electricity distribution board to which the Recording Control Unit is
connected.
3) Remove the battery connector, J404, which is mounted lower side of the Mother Board.
4) Remove the connector for measuring the temperature of the battery, J405, which is mounted lower side
of the Mother Board.
5) Undo the 2 fastening screws of the Battery
6) Pull out the battery unit slowly. (The battery unit weighs about 5kg. Hold the bottom, instead of holding
its sides, to draw it out completely. It does not have a stopper, so pull it out slowly and carefully.)
7) Undo the 4 screws for fastening the battery anchor.
8) Remove the battery anchor.
9) Remove the battery. (Watch out! The battery weighs about 5kg.)
10) Mount a new battery.
11) In the reverse way, fasten the battery in the Power Supply Unit.
12) Put the Power Supply Unit in the Recording Control Unit.
13) Place the two connector to the Mother board.
