2. Orient the rail so that one of the center holes in the slide matches the single hole in the center of
the switch. Also, match the pair of holes toward each end of the rails with the pairs of holes in
the switch.

3. Secure the rail loosely with a #6 screw through the center hole, (this allows you to make
adjustments to match the other holes.)
4. Insert two screws into the two rear holes and loosely tighten so the rail can still move.
5. Mount the two ear brackets at the front of the switch.
6. Tighten all screws securing the rail to the switch.
7. Torque the screws to 8 in-lbs. Repeat steps 4 through 9 to attach the second rail to the switch.
8. Position the switch at the front of the rack. Carefully slide the switch into the adjustable mounting
brackets.
9. Use two 10-32 screws and a #2 Phillips screwdriver to secure the ear brackets to the rails in the
rack.
10.Tighten all the screws that fasten the adjustable brackets to the vertical rails in the rack. Torque
these screws to 22 in-lbs.

Unpacking, inspecting, and installing the Ethernet hub (optional)

The HAFM appliance and one or more Edge Switches connect through an Ethernet hub installed on
a 10/100 Mbps LAN segment. One hub port is required to connect the HAFM appliance, and one
hub port is required to connect each Edge Switch. A combination of up to 48 HP Edge Switches can
be configured and managed by a single HAFM appliance; therefore, multiple hubs may be
required to provide sufficient port connections. These hubs must be connected in accordance with
