A device in the network to connect two or
more networks. It routes incoming data
packages to the corresponding network. The
network system administrator defines the IP-
address of the router for the printer. Only if
the router IP-address is known by the printer
it is possible for the printer to send
information via the network back to devices
which are located in another segment of the
network.
Computer interface to convert computer
internal parallel data into serial data and vice
versa. The interface is defined via RS232
