11 NAMES

Besides Preset names, which appear in the display, the MFC-101 stores "friendly" names for many other entities.
These can be shown while programming to make it easier to remember all of the connected devices and assigned
functions. The following table lists those entities which may be named, together with the intended use of the
names, and the menu page where names are given.
Nameable Entity
Intended Use
Preset
Name of the Preset
Song*
Name of the Song
Set
Name of the Set List
MIDI Channel
Name of the device connected on this channel
IA Switch
Name of the function(s) controlled
Preset Internal CC
Name of the function controlled
* Song names also appear when you step UP or DOWN if the global Bank Style is set to NONE.
Names are displayed in EDIT MODE to make programming easier. The NAMES footswitch LED flashes whenever
the MFC-101 cursor is on an Edit menu parameter which has a corresponding name. Pressing the footswitch
momentarily (~2 seconds) displays the name and then returns to the regular menu page.
EXAMPLE: Imagine that an MFC-101 is connected to an Axe-Fx on MIDI channel 1, with a vocal processor on MIDI
channel 2 (via THRU). Channel 2 has been named "VoxBox". An IA Switch, number 15, has been set for CC#64,
which controls reverb on the VoxBox. This IA Switch has been given the name "VoxVerb". Here's an example
showing the use of these two applied names within a single menu page:
IA15 c1 CC#64 Ch02
1) The MFC-101 operator navigates to the "IA Switch
CC# Settings" menu page (12.4.8) and presses
get to switch #15. Hmm...What was that footswitch set
up for again?
IA15 c1 CC#64 Ch02
3) The cursor is moved to the MIDI channel parameter
and Channel 2 is selected. Hey, what's connected on
that MIDI channel anyway?
NOTE: The stored value of a Name is always shown, ignoring unsaved changes from the current edit session.
Every available NAME in the MFC-101 has a factory default setting. See 15.1 on p. 79 for details.
Doc v2.15
VoxVerb
2) Because the cursor is in a parameter which can be
INCR
named, the NAMES footswitch LED Flashes. Pressing the
to
switch shows the friendly name for the item/value at
the current cursor position: IA15
VoxBox
4) The NAMES footswitch LED flashes. Pressing the
switch shows the friendly name for the item and value
at the current cursor position, the MIDI channel in this
case.
