NOTE
'
The pilot screws are factory pre-set and
should not be removed unless the carbure-
tors are overhauled.
. The pilot screw plugs are factory installed
to p.revent pilot screw misadjustment. Do
n o t r e m o v e t h e p l u g s u n l e s s t h e p i l o t
screws are being removed.
. Cover all openings with tape to keep metal
p a r t i c l e s o u t w h e n t h e p l u g s a r e d r i l l e d .
Center punch the pilot screw plug to center the
d r i l l p o i n t .
D r i l l t h r o u g h t h e p l u g w i t h a 4 m m ( 5 / 3 2 i n ) d r i l l
b i t , b e i n g c a r e f u l n o t t o d r i l l i n t o t h e p i l o t s c r e w .
CAUTION
Be careful not to dill into the pilot screw.
All pilot screws must be replaced even if only
one requires it for proper pilot screw adjust-
ment (page 4-16).
Force a self-tapping 4 mm screw (H/C 069399,
P / N 9 3 9 0 3 - 3 5 4 1 0 ) i n t o t h e d r i l l e d p l u g a n d
c o n t i n u e t u r n i n g t h e s c r e w d r i v e r u n t i l t h e p l u g
rotates with the screw.
Pull on the screw head with pliers to remove the
p t u g .
Use compressed air to clean the pilot screw area ano
remove metal shavings.
