Bringing out of storage
•
Remove any covers from the engine, air filter
and exhaust pipe.
•
Put the correct grade of oil into the engine, if
necessary, refer to Technical Data, Lubrication
System. Install a new oil filter if the filter was not
changed during conservation.
•
Install new fuel filters and vent the fuel system.
•
Check the drive belt(s).
•
Check the condition of all rubber hoses, and
retighten the hose clamps.
Conservation of the lubrication and fuel systems for more than 8 months' stoppage:
•
Drain the engine oil and fill up with conservation
oil* to just over the MIN marking on the dipstick.
•
Connect the fuel suction and return hoses to a 1/3
full jerrican containing conservation oil* and 2/3
diesel fuel.
•
Vent the fuel system.
* Conservation oils are sold by oil companies.

Close the drain taps and install any drainplugs.
•
Check the coolant level. Top up as necessary.
•
Connect the fully charged batteries.
•
Start the engine and warm it up at fast idle with
no loading.
•
Check that no oil, fuel or coolant leakage occurs.
•
Start the engine and run at a fast idle until about 2
liters (0.6 US gals) of the fluid in the jerrican have
been used. Stop the engine and connect the ordi-
nary fuel pipes.
•
Drain the engine's conservation oil.
•
Follow the other instructions on the previous page.
