Further reduced DEF level
(warning pattern 2)
If the DEF level drops further, you are warned of the
condition as follows. Refill the DEF tank immedi-
ately.

CAUTION
Do not let the DEF tank become empty. If the

Empty DEF tank (warning pattern 3)

If the DEF tank becomes completely empty, the fol-
lowing warning is issued and the driving perfor-
mance is restricted as follows:
The DEF level warning lamp
flash.
All segments from F to E of the DEF level indica-
tor flash quickly (at 0.25-second intervals).

The buzzer sounds loudly.
A driving restriction automatically engages, lock-
ing the gear in 1st or reverse, so the vehicle can
be driven only slowly.
Refill the DEF tank immediately.

Degraded DEF quality (warning pattern 4)

If the system detects a deterioration in quality of the
DEF due to addition of any fluid (water, low-density
DEF, etc.) other than acceptable DEF, the warning
lamps will light and flash, a buzzer will sound, and
the engine power will be automatically reduced.
If this condition happens, shut off the engine and
contact an authorized dealer to have the degraded
DEF drained and the vehicle inspected.
