To change the gearbox oil in a 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander, follow these steps:
1. Check the Transmission Type:
- Manual transaxle: Use Mitsubishi Genuine NEW Lubricant MULTI GEAR OIL, API GL-3, SAE 75W-80.
- CVT: Service should be done by an authorized Mitsubishi dealer or qualified repair facility.
2. Manual Transmission Oil Change:
- Locate the drain plug under the transaxle and place a container beneath it.
- Remove the drain plug and allow the old oil to drain completely.
- Reinstall the drain plug securely.
- Locate and remove the fill plug.
- Add new gear oil until it reaches the proper level.
- Reinstall the fill plug securely.
3. Transfer Oil (for AWD models):
- Locate the transfer case drain and fill plugs.
- Drain the old oil from the drain plug.
- Reinstall the drain plug.
- Add oil through the fill plug until full.
- Reinstall the fill plug.
