Pre-Installation Requirements for Canon Facsimile Equipment
A. Location
Supply a sutable table, cabnet, or desk. See p. 13-2 for the machne's weght and dmensons.
B. Order Information
1. Provde only a sngle-lne to touch-tone or rotary telephone set termnated wth a standard
4-pn modular phone plug. (Touch-tone s recommended f avalable n your area.)
2. Order an CA11A modular jack (USOC code), whch should be nstalled by the telephone
company. If the CA11A jack s not present, nstallaton cannot occur.
3. Order a normal busness lne from your telephone company's busness representatve. The
lne should be a regular voce grade lne or equvalent. Use one lne per machne.
DDD (DIRECT DISTANCE DIAL) LINE

IDDD (INTERNATIONAL DIRECT DISTANCE DIAL) LINE IF YOU COMMUNICATE OVERSEAS
Canon recommends an ndvdual lne followng ndustry standards, e.g., the 2500 (touch tone) or 500
(rotary/pulse dal) telephones. A dedcated extenson off a PBX machne wthout "Camp On" sgnals s
also permssble wth the machne. Key telephone systems are not recommended because they send
non-standard sgnals to ndvdual telephones for rngng and specal codes, whch may cause a fax
error.
C. Power Requirements
The power outlet should be a three-prong grounded receptacle (Sngle or Duplex). It should
be ndependent from copers, heaters, ar condtoners or any electrc equpment that s
thermostatcally controlled. The rated value s 120 volts and 15 amperes. The CA11A modular
jack should be relatvely close to the power outlet to facltate nstallaton.
