CHAPTER 2 BASIC OPERATIONS

2.1.3 Controlling the Feeding Assembly

Trimmer DC controller PCB
Booklets are moved using the drive of the feeding motor (M101) transmitted to each
roller.
The motor (M101) is controlled by the trimmer driver PCB, and is under the control of
the trimmer DC controller PCB. The sensors associated with the feeding of booklets include
the feeding sensor (PS102) and the paper exiting sensor (PS108).
1. Operation
The feeding operation consists of entrance feeding and exit feeding; these, however, differ
between trim mode (trimming performed) and through mode (trimming not performed).
a. Entrance Feeding
(1) Trim Mode
The feeding motor (M101) moves the booklet delivered by the saddle finisher to the en-
trance feeding assembly at a speed of 500 mm/sec.
The motor goes OFF a specific period of time after the feeding sensor (PS102) mounted
the pressing assembly detects the leading edge (folded side) of the booklet to stop mov-
ing the booklet. At this time, the fold edge of the booklet is hit against the stopper of the
pressing assembly and held in wait for cutting.
(2) Through Mode
The feeding motor (M101) goes ON at the same timing as in trim mode. However, the
motor shifts to delivery operation without going OFF, as the booklet need not be
stopped once for trimming operation.
