BOLTING THE CYLINDER HEAD TO THE CYLINDER BLOCK
1. Make sure none of the pistons come to their Top
Dead Center (TOC) position. This allows the
cylinder head to be mounted on the cylinder
block without the valves interfering with the pis-
tons. Be sure to align the stamped mark on the
camshaft timing belt pulley with the indicator on
the cylinder head.

2. Make sure the mating surface of the cylinder head and cylinder block are clean of old gasket material, oil
or grease. Use a new cylinder gasket when installing the cylinder head on the cylinder block. Do not use
any gasket sealer on this gasket.
3. Mount the cylinder head on the cylinder block and tighten the cylinder head bolt between 28.9 to 36.2 Ib-
ft (4.0 - 5.0 kg-m).
