Troubleshooting the Fuel System
Trouble
Hard starting

Poor performance
at generator speed
Possible Cause
1. Faulty choke.
2. Fuel.
3. Fuel pump.
4. Faulty idle jet
adjustment
1. Carburetor float
needle valve open
or damaged.
2. Float in carburetor
leaking.
3. Float chamber
gasket damaged or
securing screws are
loose.
1. Main jet clogged.
2. Carburetor inlet
filter clogged.
3. Fuel pump filter
clogged.
4. Air intake filter
screen dirty.

Remedy
1. Check choke adjustment,
cam and operation.
2. Check fuel supply and
correct type.
3. Check pump operation
and clean filter
screen.
4. Adjust idle jet.
1. Clean or replace the
needle valve.
2. Repair or replace
float.
3. Replace gasket and/or
tighten screws.
