Introduction

This chapter describes how to perform basic tasks with a terminal that has been configured
and charged. For information on configuring the terminal, see chapters 5-10.

Powering the PDT 7200

Power for the PDT 7200 is provided by a Li-Ion rechargeable battery pack. Before powering
on the terminal, initialize it and install a new or fully-charged battery pack. Refer to
3, Cradle Setup and Operation
- 10 for information on initializing the terminal.
To power the PDT 7200 on or off, press the icon on the display in the upper left-hand
corner.

Booting the Terminal

Warm booting the terminal is similar to performing a CTRL+ALT+DEL on a PC. To warm
boot the terminal, press and hold the
boot timeout value defined in Setup.
Cold booting the terminal generates a system reset, the same as a power-on boot on a
standard PC. To cold boot the terminal, press and hold the
release. See

Suspending and Resuming Operation

To suspend or resume the PDT 7200, tap the
display. The terminal can also resume operation from various wake-up sources (if enabled
through application development).
Terminal operation can be suspended in four ways:
Manual
the operator taps the
Automatic
the terminal times out because of no operator activity. Refer to
default values.
Programmatic
for more information on battery packs. Refer to Chapters 5
icon for at least 6 seconds, but less than the cold
