Application Requirements
D
Very Large Program Storage
OS and support files will not fit
within 3.8 MB of flash disk when
compressed.
E
Very Large Program Storage
OS and support files will not fit
within 3.8 MB of flash disk when
uncompressed, and DRVSPACE

cannot be used
F
Enormous Program Storage
OS and support files far exceed
the storage capacity of a 3.8 MB
flash disk when compressed, and
of an SRAM card when
compressed.
1.
DRVSPACE requires approximately 60KB of conventional memory to load. It can be configured to use EMS
or XMS memory, reducing the amount of conventional memory required, but increasing the total amount of
RAM required.
2.
Some possible reasons why DRVSPACE might not be usable are listed below:
a. The application requires a large amount of various types of memory (conventional, XMS, EMS,
etc.) and the memory required by DRVSPACE cannot be spared.
b. DRVSPACE conflicts with the application or some utility used with the application (no such
conflicts have yet been found), depending on how you choose to load DRVSPACE.
c. The minor performance penalty imposed by DRVSPACE is unacceptable.

Same as A, B, or C.
Additional program storage can
be off-loaded to an SRAM or ATA
card or Compact Flash.
Additional program storage can
be traded off between additional
flash disk (via 4 MB Flash
memory and/or compressed
using DRVSPACE) and an
additional or larger PCMCIA card
or Compact Flash (optionally
compressed using DRVSPACE)
to achieve optimum cost balance.
Same as D.
Same as A, B, or C.
Additional program storage can
be achieved via a large ATA flash
card compressed, or a Compact
Flash card, possibly compressed.
