Terminal Problems

covers some common terminal problems and what actions to take.
Symptom
Terminal does not power up Battery not installed or fully
Cannot see screen
Touch screen not working
Scanner does not come on

Possible Cause

Power supply is not plugged
in.
Battery is not secured.
Terminal not powered on.
Contrast not adjusted properly. Press and hold the contrast icon
Display not properly
calibrated.
Scanner driver is not loaded.
Bar code is unreadable.
Symbology not enabled.
Action
Verify that the battery is
installed in the terminal.
Charge the battery, either in the
terminal or separately for a full 2
hours.
Verify that the power supply is
connected properly to the
terminal and plugged in the wall
socket.
Fully engage the battery latch.
Press the Power icon on the top
of the screen.
to increase, tap to decrease.
Recalibrate the screen through
the calib72.com program.
Verify that scanner driver is
loaded on the terminal.
Check application software to
ensure that scanner driver is
properly referenced.
Verify that the bar code is not
defective, i.e., smudged or
broken.
Verify with the programmer that
the application is designed to
perform scanning.
