Messages Displayed When Using the Facsimile
Function
This section describes the machine's main messages. If other messages appear, follow their instructions.
Message
"Authentication failed."

Cause
Wrong login user name or
password.
Authentication is not possible
from this machine.
The machine is scanning an
original under another
function.
The alias telephone number
you entered is already
registered on the gatekeeper
by another device.
Cannot access gatekeeper.
Solution
Confirm correct login user name or
password.
Contact the administrator.
Before sending the fax, cancel the
current scan job under the other function.
To do this, press the [Clear/Stop] key on
the control panel to display the message
"Clear/Stop key was pressed. Stop
scanning?", and then press [Stop].
• In [Fax Features], under [IP-Fax
Settings], select [H.323 Settings],
and then check the alias telephone
number is correctly programmed.
You can also use the Web Image
Monitor for confirmation. See the
Web Image Monitor's Help.
• Contact the network administrator.
• In [Fax Features], under [IP-Fax
Settings], select [H.323 Settings],
and then check "Gatekeeper
Address" is correctly programmed.
