3.1 Overview

After confirming the problem and carrying out preliminary checks, you should take
advantage of FIP (Fault Isolation Procedure), and the information in "Chapter 2:
OPERATING PRINCIPLE" and "Chapter 7: APPENDIX" to troubleshoot efficiently.

3.1.2 Preliminary Checks

Check the following before troubleshooting:
1. Make sure that the power source voltage is within the specifications. (Measure
the voltage at the electrical outlet.)
2. Make sure that the power cord (PL15.1.9) is not damaged, shorted or
disconnected, and that there are no incorrect connections inside the power
cord.
3. Make sure that the printer is properly grounded.
4. Avoid setting up the printer in places that are exposed to high temperatures,
excessive humidity, low temperatures, low humidity and sudden changes in
temperature.
5. Avoid setting up the printer near water lines, humidifiers, heat-radiating
equipment, sources of fire, and in places that are exposed to excessive dust or
where it might be directly exposed to air from air conditioners.
6. Avoid setting up the printer in places where volatile or inflammable gases are
produced.
7. Avoid setting up the printer in places that are exposed to direct sunlight.
8. The printer should be set up in a well-ventilated area.
9. The printer should be set up on a stable, level surface.
10. The paper used in the printer should be within the correct specifications.
(Standard-sized paper is recommended.)
11. The printer should be handled correctly as described in the printer
documentation.
12. Parts that need to be replaced periodically should be replaced after the
prescribed number of pages have been printed.
