3.3.4 Image Quality Troubleshooting FIP

NOTE: This section contains instructions for troubleshooting when the
printer controller is operating normally. However, it is possible to
tell basically if there is a problem with the printer controller or with
the engine itself by carrying out a test print using just the printer
engine, except for some problems which cannot be checked by
means of a test print.
If the print test using the engine is normal → There is a problem with the
printer controller.
If the print test using the engine also shows a problem → There is a
problem with the printer engine.
If the problem is judged to be with the printer controller, replace the printer
controller with a normal part and re-check.
If the problem still occurs after the printer controller has been replaced,
check the host computer, and then use the following image quality FIP
classified by trouble symptoms to carry out troubleshooting more
efficiently.
If problems occur with the image quality of printouts, make a printout using an A4
page and use the image quality FIP table classified by trouble symptoms to make
an accurate judgment and to get a proper understanding of the problem so that
troubleshooting can be carried out effectively.
If the problem cannot be fixed using the image quality FIP, repeat the check
procedure once more using the image quality FIP, and then check by replacing
parts in the order given in the "Related parts" section of the image quality FIP, and
also use the specifications section to carry out troubleshooting. Check that all
assemblies are properly grounded.
The image quality FIP contains instructions on diagnosing the following basic
image quality problems.

FIP-P3 "All Black"
