Upgrading Firmware
You can upgrade the Access Point 3000 software from a local file on the management workstation,
or from an FTP or TFTP server. New software may be provided periodically on the Wireless Web
site (http://www.enterasys.com/products/wireless).
After upgrading new software, you must reboot the Access Point 3000 to implement the new code.
Until a reboot occurs, the Access Point 3000 will continue to run the software it was using before
the upgrade started.
Before upgrading new software, verify that the Access Point 3000 is connected to the network and
has been configured with a compatible IP address and subnet mask.
Bulk upgrades can be done using Enterasys Networks NetSight Inventory Manager.
If you need to download from an FTP or TFTP server, perform the following additional tasks:
•
Obtain the IP address of the FTP or TFTP server where the access point software is stored.
•
Verify that the image is in the appropriate directory on the server.
•
If upgrading from an FTP server, be sure that you have an account configured on the server
with a user name and password.
•
If VLANs are configured on the access point, determine the VLAN ID with which the FTP or
TFTP server is associated, and then configure the management station, or the network port to
which it is attached, with the same VLAN ID. If you are managing the access point from a
wireless client, the VLAN ID for the wireless client must be configured on a RADIUS server.
