snmp-server community
This command defines the community access strings for SNMP. Use the no form to remove the
specified community string.
Syntax
snmp-server community string [ro | rw]
no snmp-server community string
• string ‐ Community string that acts like a password and permits access to the SNMP
• ro ‐ Specifies read‐only access. Authorized management stations are only able to retrieve
• rw ‐ Specifies read/write access. Authorized management stations are able to both retrieve
Default Setting
• public ‐ Read‐only access.
• private ‐ Read/write access.

If you enter a community string without specifying ro or rw option, the string defaults to read
only.
