Verify that the modem cable is properly connected from the modem to J17 (MODEM) on
the backplane of the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX shelf.

Verify that the modem is connected to the phone line.

Select Administration > Data Communications.

Click the Serial Port tab.

Choose CIT Port: cit-2.

Choose Baud Rate: to match the modem being connected.

Dial into the modem using an application such as HyperTerminal from a PC with a
modem configured to similar parameters.
