Reflector
Risk of electric shock
The retroreflective reflectors for the outdoor crane are equipped with a 230 V AC foil heater. The
heater is attached inside the housing.
During operation, a dangerous voltage is present in the heater. A damaged heating foil can
result in severe injury or death.
• Work on the retroreflective reflectors is only permitted in the no-voltage state.
• Do not damage the foil heater.
• To ensure reliable detection, clean the reflectors regularly.
• Note the information in the chapter Maintenance (Page 131).
The reflector is a special construction designed for the typical vibrations caused by cranes. A
reflector is required for each SIMATIC MV540 H CRANES camera; its dimensions depend on the
maximum distance to the camera.
Available reflector types
One reflector type is available for outdoor and indoor cranes. Only the dimensions differ.

The reflector is heated electrically for outdoor applications to prevent snow or ice from impairing
visibility. To allow rain water or dew to flow off, the top of the reflector is slightly inclined.
Features of the reflectors
The white areas of the reflector are equipped with a retroreflective foil.
