Maintenance of the reflector
NOTICE
Do not use any sharp objects when cleaning
• To clean the reflector, use only a soft cloth and household cleaner.
• Do not use any sharp objects on the retroreflective foil.
Cleaning depending on the degree of soiling
Clean the reflector appropriately depending on its degree of soiling. In certain conditions, the
camera may no longer be able to detect a soiled reflector.
• In the case of light soiling, an annual check/cleaning is sufficient.
• If heavily soiled, clean the reflector at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks: Remove contamination or
paint remnants.
Check of the reflector mounting
During the regular inspections of the crane, check that the reflector is firmly secured.
Maintenance of the SIMATIC MV540 H CRANES camera
Version 1 (indoor)
The device is maintenance-free. Only the protective lens barrel needs to be cleaned according to
specifications when soiled in order to ensure that the reflectors can be detected at all times.
Version 2 (outdoor)
• The stainless steel housing is equipped with a combined drain and ventilation element (see
the chapter Camera housing (Page 141)). The outer section of this element features three
drilled holes.
– Check regularly that these drilled holes are free of obstructions.
• Siemens AG recommends that you clean the protective lens barrel according to
specifications when soiled, particularly the acrylic glass pane in front of the lens. This will
ensure that reflectors can be detected at all times.
