3·61 ENGINE SERVICING
• Top and 2nd (middle) rings have letter "N"
marked on the side. Be sure to bring the marked
side to top when fitting them to the piston.
• The first member to go into the ring groove is
spacer
CD.
After placing spacer, fit the two
side rails®. Side designations, top and bottom,
are not applied to the spacer and side rails: you
can position each either way.
CAUTION:
When mounting the spacer, be careful not to
allow its two ends to overlap in the groove.
INCORRECT
• Install the piston to the conrod so that the
triangle mark
CD
on the piston top faces 1.0.
code ®of the con rod.
• Apply engine oil lightly to the piston pin and
install the piston pin to the piston with circlip.
• Position the gaps of the three rings as shown.
Before inserting each piston into the cylinder,
check that the gaps are so located.
