4-2-4. Ribbon-feed / Ribbon winding Problem
Symptoms
Ribbon is not fed at
all, or is not fed
correctly.
Checks
1. Is the ribbon correctly inserted into the
ribbon holders?
2. Is the ribbon path correct?
3. Is the cable firmly connected between
the "SA Main PCB" (J4) and the "SA
Relay PCB" (J301)?
4. Is the cable firmly connected between
"SA Relay PCB" (J304) and the "SA
Ribbon Control PCB" (J601)?
5. Is the cable firmly connected between
"SA Ribbon Control PCB" (J602) and
the "SA Ribbon Motor F"?
6. Is the cable firmly connected between
"SA Ribbon Control PCB" (J603) and
the thermistor "SA PF MTR THM"?
7. Does the "SA Fan" work correctly?
(It starts to turn when the temperature
of the "SA Ribbon Motor F" exceeds a
certain value.)
If it does not, check if the cable is firmly
connected between the "SA Fan" and
the "SA Ribbon Control PCB" (J604).
8. Does the ribbon tension sensor work
correctly?

9. Does the ribbon encoder sensor work
correctly?

10. Do the ribbon drive gears turn
correctly?
11. Does the "SA Ribbon Motor F" turn
correctly?
12. Failure in the ribbon motor drive circuit.
13. Failure in the ribbon motor control
circuit.
1. Insert the ribbon correctly.
2. Re-install the ribbon correctly.
3. Connect it firmly.
4. Connect it firmly.
5. Connect it firmly.
6. Connect the cable firmly.
7. Connect the cable firmly.
8. Replace the "SA Ribbon Sensor".
9. Replace the "SA Ribbon Encoder".
10. Replace the defective ribbon gear.
11. Replace the "SA Ribbon Motor F".
12. Replace the "SA Ribbon Control
PCB".
13. Replace the "SA Relay PCB" or
"SA Main PCB".
