ADJUSTMENTS

HEIGHT OF CUT ADJUSTMENT
(Fig. 16)
The cutting height is determined by the position of the
front roll in relation to the bottom blade; variation of
this setting is made by adjusting the front roll by
means of a handwheel (C Fig.16):
The height of cut range is between 6mm (1/4in) and
28mm (1 3/32in).
To raise the height of cut the rool has to be lowered
and this is achieved by turning the handwheel
clockwise.
To lower the height of cut the roll has to be raised and
this is achieved by turning the handwheel anti-
clockwise.
ALIGNING THE FRONT ROLLS (Fig.17)
Should the front roll become out of line with the bottom
blade, adjust accordingly:
1.
Slacken the locknut (A) on the adjusting
swivel.
2.
Place a straight edge between the front roll
and landroll, and check the variation in the
measurement between the bottom blade
cutting surface and the straight edge at both
sides of the machine.
3.
Adjust swivel nut (B) to reset the front roll so
that the measurement between the bottom
blade cutting surface and the straight edge is
the same both sides.
4.
Retighten the locknut.
CYLINDER TO BOTTOM BLADE ADJUSTMENT
(Fig. 18)
To check that the cutting cylinder is set correctly to the
bottom blade: tilt the machine back, hold a thin piece
of paper between the edge of the blade and spiral
cutters and turn the cylinder manually.
The paper should be cut cleanly along the length of
the bottom blade, if not some adjustment is necessary
BUT DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN - the cylinder must be
able to turn freely.
Adjustment is made by turning the adjustment screws
(A) clockwise to move the cylinder towards the blade.
It is recommended that an eigth of a turn is made
alternately to each screw, checking frequently with the
paper until the correct setting is achieved.
WARNING
Turn petrol tap to the "OFF" position before tilting the
machine rearwards.
