CARBURETTOR ADJUSTMENT (Fig. 27)
Idle Setting
1.
Allow the engine to warm up for
approximately 20 minutes and then stop the
engine.
2.
Tighten the pilot screw (A) of the carburettor
and then screw out one to one and a half
turns.
NOTE: DO NOT over tighten the pilot screw as this
may cause the taper point to become stepped.
3.
Start the engine and set the speed control
lever to the lowest speed setting. Adjust the
engine speed with the throttle stop adjusting
screw (B) of the carburettor so that the
engine maintains the lowest speed but runs
fast enough to keep it running.
4.
Tighten or loosen the pilot screw to adjust the
engine to the highest speed (fast idle).
NOTE: The speed of the engine will drop if the screw is
turned too far in either direction.
5.
Screw in the throttle stop adjusting screw (B)
and with the tip of the screw touching the
throttle valve adjust until the engine speed
reaches 1025 rpm.
6.
Ensure that the centrifugal clutch disengages
at engine idle speed.
