CONCAVE
(Fig. 19)
If the grass clippings do not enter the grassbox
satisfactorily the concave needs adjusting:
1. Ensure that the concave aligns correctly with
the bottom edge of the bottom block.
2. Release the nuts arrowed either side of the
machine which secure the concave to the
side frame.
3. Move the concave until there is
approxiamately 1.5mm (1/16in) between the
concave and the cutting cylinder, measured
as near to the centre point of the cylinder as
possible.
4. Retighten the nuts.
CYLINDER CLUTCH
(Fig. 20)
The adjustment of the cylinder clutch is made with the
clutch in the engaged position. Slacken the two nuts
(D), either side of the plate then turn them both in the
same direction until the correct adjustment has been
made. Retighten the nuts.
When correctly adjusted, the clutch dogs will engage
fully and disengage completely when the clutch lever is
operated.
LANDROLL CLUTCH (Fig.21)
The Landroll clutch should be disengaged when the
OPC lever is released.
To adjust:
1. Release the locknuts (A) on the adjuster at
the lower end of the control cable.
2. Screw the adjuster (B) until there is a gap of
approximately 1.5mm (1/16in) between the
end of the operating pin and lever.
3. When the correct adjustment has been
made retighten the locknuts.
BACK LAPPING THE CUTTING CYLINDER
(Fig. 20)
The keen cutting edges of the spiral cutters can be
maintained by a process of 'back lapping'.
1. Raise the mower on the kick-stand (A) and
disengage the cylinder clutch.
2. Check the cutting cylinder is set correctly to
the bottom blade (see previous note).
3. Remove chain case cover.
4. Smear some carborundum paste* on the
spiral cutters.
* Obtainable from most automobile service
stations.
5. Rotate the cutting cylinder clockwise by using a
socket spanner and brace on the screw (B) at
the L.H. end of the cylinder spindle.
