Duplex
Printers with duplex support use a secondary paper path to print on the second side of a sheet of media.
The following steps summarize the duplex process.
After the first side of the media is printed and the trailing edge of the media is fed to where it clears the
EOF sensor, then the printer waits for the ink to dry in a predetermined amount of time. The feed system
then reverses the media direction, and feeds it into the duplex paper path.
The PRA that holds the paper in contact with the feedroll is lifted just before the paper is reversed to avoid
jams. Once the media is fed backwards into the feedroll area, the PRA is lowered again. The exit roller and
the feed roller turn in reverse direction to bring the media to the nip of the first duplex roller (D1). The feed
roll and first duplex roller moves the paper forward into the nip of the second duplex roller (D2).
The first and second duplex rollers then push the media around a circular path back to the feed assist
rollers (A1 and A2). Deskewing of the paper is done when the media reaches the feed roll, similar to the
initial pick. After deskewing, the feed roller moves the media forward in to the print zone.
After the printing process happens in the print zone, the media exits through the exit rollers and lands in
the output bin.
