Management Software
HarnessEye/web (HEW) is a web-based server management software system. Using the
proxy network address, a HEW Agent can be monitored. Additionally, server information
can also be monitored for errors.
HEW modules
HEW consists of three basic modules:

Management Console
❖
Management Proxy
❖
Agent
In a standard HEW configuration, individual modules are each installed on different
machines (although they can also be installed on a single machine).
The HTTP protocol is used to communicate between the Management Console and the
Management Proxy. The SNMP protocol is used to communicate between the
Management Proxy and the Agent.
Individual Functions
This section provides an outline of individual HEW functions.
Fault list display
Displays Agent fault information stored on the Management Proxy.
Inventory collection
RAID controller information (IDE RAID, SCSI RAID)
Product information
Hardware: RAID, system BIOS, processor, SCSI, and so on.
Software: RAID, Applications, and so on.
This type of information can be stored in files.
Hardware status display
Displays hardware status information including power supply and fans.
