Management Software

HarnessEye/web (HEW)

The Magnia Z310/Z310R server uses HarnessEye/web Version 2.0 (HEW). HEW is web-
based operation management software. When the network address of the Management
Proxy is known, the condition of the HEW Agent can be monitored from a web browser.
Hardware information specific to Magnia Z310/Z310R servers can be monitored for fault
detection.

HEW modules

HEW is consists of three modules:
Management Console
Management Proxy
Agent
In a standard HEW configuration, individual modules can be installed on different
servers, as shown in the figure below, or all of the modules can be installed on a single
server.
NOTE: In-band refers to communication using the LAN running on the OS on the
Agent server. Out-of-band refers to communication using a special capability of the
Magnia Z310/Z310R that functions should the OS on the Agent machine fail.
The HTTP protocol is used for communication between the Management Console and
the Management Proxy. The SNMP protocol is used for communication between the
Management Proxy and the Agent.
