To perform a directory search:
If your phone is idle, press the

button for the desired directory (IC DIRECTORY, OUTSIDE DIR, or FEATURE
DIR).
If placing a call, choose between

Remain in alphanumeric mode (Message button and lamp lit): Press the dial-
pad buttons to enter the desired characters. (Note that letters correspond to
