IDENTIFICATION DATA

It is a good rule to write the vehicle identification
number (VIN) and that of the engine in the relative
space provided in this handbook.
These numbers may be used when purchasing
spare parts.
Changing identification numbers can
lead to the application of severe pen-
alties and administrative fines; in
particular changing the VIN leads to
immediate invalidity of the warranty.
VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN)
Every FANTIC MOTOR vehicle has a VIN to be
found on the steering head tube.

ENGINE OIL

PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING!
Change the engine oil after the first 1000 km/
625 miles. For subsequent oil changes, follow
the instructions given on the chart on page
74, using the lubricants recommended on
page 159.
The gear oil is:
-
harmful by inhalation, if swallowed or in
contact with skin, with possible serious con-
sequences;
-
irritating to skin;
-
harmful for the environment.
To be avoided:
-
contact with skin;
-
inhalation of vapours;
-
ingestion;
-
release to the environment;
-
exposure to air.
If swallowed do NOT induce vomiting but seek
medical advice immediately (first aid post), indicat-
ing the cause and how the accident occurred.
After contact with skin, wash the affected part
immediately with soap and water, repeating the
operation until there are no more residues.
In case of contact with eyes or ears, rinse the
affected parts immediately with plenty of water
and seek medical advice immediately (first aid
post), indicating the cause and how the accident
occurred.
After contact with clothes, remove contaminated
articles and wash immediately with plenty of
water and soap. Substitute the contaminated
clothes, which must be cleaned appropriately as
soon as possible.
If gear oil is accidentally spilt on the floor or in
other areas, clean the contaminated area.
Always wear latex gloves to protect hands when
carrying out maintenance.
Always close the gear oil cap properly after every
topping up.
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
DISPOSE OF THE OIL AT A SPECIAL WASTE
COLLECTION POINT.
The used gear oil must be put in a sealed con-
tainer and taken to the nearest service station or
to a waste oil collection point where it will be
disposed of correctly.
CHECKING TRANSMISSION OIL
You should wear gloves when doing this.
NOTE: do not perform this check with the motor-
cycle resting on the kickstand.
Place the vehicle on a flat surface.
NOTE: place the vehicle on a suitable support
and make sure it is straight.
Start the engine and let it warm up for a few
minutes. Then turn it off.
Check the motor oil. Its level should be between
the minimum level "a" and the maximum level "b".
If it is below the minimum level, add recom-
mended motor oil until the correct level is
reached.
