Replacing the hard drive

To replace a hard drive:

CHAPTER 12: Adding and Replacing Components
Remove the bezel by following the instructions in
Disconnect the cable from the I/O panel.
Remove the screw that secures the I/O panel to the computer, then remove the I/O panel
from the computer.
Position the new I/O panel on the front of the computer, then replace the screw.
Connect the I/O panel cable to the new I/O panel.
Replace the metal reinforcing beam/hard drive assembly, being careful not to pinch the
hard drive cables, then replace the bezel.
Replace the side panel by following the instructions in
page 126.
Back up any files that you need on the drive you are replacing to another drive or on
removable media.

Remove the side panel by following the instructions in
page 122.
Caution
Be careful not to pull or damage the hard drive power and data cables when
you remove the metal reinforcing beam/hard drive assembly.
