CHAPTER 12: Adding and Replacing Components
Caution
Be careful not to pull or damage the hard drive power and data cables when
you remove the metal reinforcing beam/hard drive assembly.
Disconnect the power supply cables from all components (such as hard drives, CD or DVD
drives, and the system board), noting their locations and orientation. (You will reconnect
the cables after you install the new power supply.)
Remove the four screws that secure the power supply to the computer.

Slide the power supply away from the back of the computer, and remove it.
Install the new power supply into the case, then install the four screws to secure the power
supply to the case.
Reconnect the power supply cables using your notes from Step 3.
Replace the metal reinforcing beam/hard drive assembly, being careful not to pinch the
hard drive cables.
