Note
• Recording picture will be distorted if the copy protection
signal is being detected during satellite link timer recording.
• [SAT.LINK] does not work under the following
circumstances:
- Setup menus are displayed.
- "Timer Programming" list is displayed.
- Title list or any file list is displayed.
- During timer recording (counting from 4 minutes before the
starting time).
- During playback of HDD or a disc.
- During recording or dubbing of HDD or a disc.
• When a regular timer recording and the satellite link timer
recording are overlapped, the examples are given below.

Connecting to an External Device
Refer to "Connecting an External Device" on page 18.
Setting the Video Colour System
Different countries use different television colour systems.
This unit distinguishes the colour system of the input signal
and outputs the image in the same system as detected. To
change the video colour system manually to match your TV's
colour system, select the appropriate colour system in "Video
Colour System" in the setup menu. Refer to page 64.
Recording from External Device
Preparation:
• Make sure the disc is in the unit if you are recording to BD-
RE/-R.
• Make sure the correct component mode (HDD/DISC) is
selected.

Press [INPUT SELECT] repeatedly to select the
input terminal to which the external device is
connected (AV1 or AV2).

Select a recording mode using [REC MODE].
(See page 27.)

Press [REC I] to start recording.

Start the playback of the external device.
To stop the recording:
Press [STOP C] on the front panel.
Note
• During recording, recording will be paused when a signal
other than PAL or SECAM is detected. (See "Setting the
Video Colour System" on page 36 for details.)
• The signal from the external device will be output
automatically when the TV is connected to AV1 and the
external device is connected to AV2 using a scart cable with
its power on. (However, it will not be output when this unit's
power is turned off.)
If you want to monitor this unit's signal, press [DISPLAY]
or turn the external device off. (The signal from this unit can
only be monitored during playback.)
If you want to monitor the signal from other input, press
[DISPLAY], then press [INPUT SELECT] to select the
desired external input mode, then select the desired input
channel using [PROG. G \ H].
