Shelf/Slot Designation

Shelf: Use this field to select the shelf containing the DIDCSU 2912 you
want to access.
Slot: Use this field to select the slot containing the DIDCSU 2912 you want
to access.
• Slots containing DIDCSU modules display an A at the
intersection of rows and columns designating the shelf/slot
location of any DIDCSU module in the node.
• The letter surrounded by brackets ( [ ] ) indicates the location
of the module that is referenced and modified via submenus
of the Main Menu.
• On initial log in, brackets surround the module being used as
the log-in access point.
• The option S (shelf/slot) is used to move the terminal window
focus to a desired module in the node.
In
Figure
4-1, the Main Menu shows a DIDCSU 2912 (designated by
A) in slot 2. The currently selected module is indicated by the
square brackets ([ ]). A different module is selected using the
S) shelf/slot command. The asterisk next to the N indicates the
NCM 2000 is the shelf controller. In the absence of an NCM 2000
module one of the DIDCSU modules will become the shelf
controller.
The NCM 2000 is the module responsible for:
• Collecting alarm information for all modules in the node.
• Controlling the relay responsible for reflecting the node's
alarm status. (The relay is activated if any module has a major
or critical alarm indication. See the
• Maintaining a database of circuits.
To access a DIDCSU 2912 module from the NCM Main Menu, enter
"S" to specify the Shelf/Slot address.
• If the desired module is in the current shelf, enter only the slot
number, then press E
• If the desired module is in a different shelf, enter the shelf
number followed by a comma and then the slot number
(e.g.,"1,3") then press E
Description
NOTE: Each shelf in a node must have a unique shelf address.
Otherwise, there will be unpredictable behavior.
