Lentil Soup

1 Package of lentils, 6 oz.
1 Cup of smoked ham cut into cubes (optional)
2 Tbsp. of olive oil
3 Bay leaves
2 Carrots cut into cubes
1 Lg. onion, chopped
2 Stalks of celery, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
Red pepper flakes to taste (optional)
Water or clear broth (following lentil package directions)
DIRECTIONS:
1. Using the "Browning Function", heat the interior pot of the cooker and add the olive
oil, ham, and onions; brown until golden brown.
2. Add the rest of the vegetables, bay leaves, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
3. Add liquid just below the 2/3 limit line.
Close lid and lock setting Pressure Release Valve to the "down pressure" position. Turn
the pressure control to "Medium"- Press the "Soup" function button and then start.
Cooker will automatically choose the correct cooking time. When soup is finished the
cooker will shut off automatically and go into a warming mode – four dashes will appear
on the front panel (----). Allow pressure to drop naturally, when the release valve drops
it is safe to open the cooker.
