Low contrast mode is a useful feature which
enhances the lightly printed images without
darkening the background. This feature can
be valuable when creating copies of
documents containing edits added with
pencil or red pen.

We found even the more complex document
production features such as chapter/sheet
insertion and booklet set up to be well laid
out.
Within booklet mode, we were pleased to
see that the feature also included a
signature mode option, which Océ
called 'Adhesive Binding'. This is a useful
function in a back office/CRD where large
documents are to be perfect/thermal bound
offline. The adhesive binding function
basically groups the imposed documents
into a series of "mini" booklets. These mini
booklets can then be more easily handled
when they are moved over to the thermal
binder compared to individual sheets. While
the Océ VarioPrint 1105 has
the ability to handle saddle-stitched booklets
up to 200 pages in length (50 folded sheets)
it is more likely that back office environments
which are commonly producing this size of
document (government CRD, legal firm
CRD, commercial printer) will have invested
in an off-line binding device.
