MAINTENANCE
& LUBRICA"rlON DIVISION
TAB
1.4
The following maintenance and lubrication schedules are classified as "Preventative Maintenance"
(PM) and do not cover major repairs. and/or overhaul. Please refer to the manufacturer's information
for detailed maintenance instructions. Good PM depends on good housekeeping, regular observation
and comparison, and thorough operating and maintenance staff. It also depends on having a planned
PM program and making sure that the program is followed. Part of the PM is to inspect by looking,
listening, and feeling, wiping and cleaning. If these tasks are carried out regularly, many developing
problems can be detected and corrected before they become serious.
The PM schedules are based on the manufacturer's recommendations and good PM practices. They
are not flawless, and may be modified by the operating and maintenance staff based on experience
and management policy.
It is recommended that all indicating gauges have their normal operating ranges clearly identified to
enable rapid checking for deviations from normal conditions.
It is also recommended that a daily log book be kept to record such things as daily temperature and
pressure readings, dates of equipment lubrication, filter changes and belt replacements. In addition,
record the occurrence and nature of problems and the action taken to correct these problems.
NOTE: The daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually schedules should be carried
out regardless of whether or not they coincide.
