For Windows 2000
From the Control Panel folder in the My Computer directory, select the System icon. Next,
click the Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button to display a list of the
installed devices.
Check that the scanner is acknowledged by the computer under "Other devices."
For Windows XP
Select Control Panel from the Start Menu, and the n click Performance and Maintenance.
Click System. Click the Hardware tab. Click the Device Manager button to list the devices.
Check that the scanner recognized is listed under "Other devices".
